Self-worth is a hot topic in the healing world right now. The truth is, feeling worthy is not something handed to us; it’s a self-permitted, learned skill. Sadly, many of us were never shown how to give that to ourselves, or even told it was possible. Feeling unworthy often begins with a childhood misunderstanding that we wholeheartedly believe.
It damages our fragile spirits and leads us to hurt ourselves in countless ways. When we carry the belief that we are not deserving, we become our own enemy. No one takes revenge on us quite like the version of ourselves that feels unworthy. We sabotage our own lives, our posture slumps in defeat, our breath grows shallow, we surround ourselves with people who treat us the way we already believe we deserve to be treated. We numb our pain with alcohol. We smoke to cut off our breath. We eat in guilt, then punish ourselves.
We give our bodies away, not out of love, but out of desperation to feel useful for a few fleeting moments. And so we ask, can this be healed? Is there hope? Yes. But it takes what feels like a miracle. Healing requires an environment that is unconditional, safe, sincere, patient, and deeply loving. Only then can the repair and reprogramming begin, sparking new pathways in our hearts and our minds.
I know this because I’ve lived it. I began numbing with alcohol at age 17 and didn’t stop until I was 52, after the death of both of my beloved parents, just a week apart, and after becoming a mother-in-law. Somewhere in the middle of that heartbreak, a miracle happened. I surrendered my obsessions, alcohol, overspending, overthinking, over-talking, and found my way to spiritual, holistic healing techniques. Is it a process? Absolutely.
It’s a long, drawn-out process that demands consistency, tenacity, faith, positivity, courage, and every ounce of vision you can hold. A vision of your loved ones being proud of you. A vision of the legacy your ancestors deserve for you to leave behind. A vision rooted in truth, integrity, and honesty, not fear, doubt, or minimization.
Do I feel proud today? You bet. Do I have peace? Yes, more than ever. Do I still have hard days? Of course. Does life get easier? Sometimes. But here’s the difference: life feels safe now. I feel safe. I feel confident in my ability to handle whatever comes my way. I feel strong, connected to the Creator, to my Higher Self, to my Soul, and to my ancestors who light up my path. And now, I no longer sabotage myself. I only build myself up. My posture and health are strong. My lifestyle is healthy. I know I am deserving of all good, and it shows in my gaze and in my heart.
We are the addictions nor the thoughts about our addictions. We are the light, the love, the joy! We create all that in the world, too. I invite you to become a part of the light and solution now. Heal so that you can thrive and feel proud.
